Pre-class Preparation
1. Focus Fabric: Cut 2 – 7¾” x 25” strips (outside pockets)
2. Accent Fabric: Cut 4 – 1½” x 25” strips (pocket trim)
Cut 1 – 2½’ x WOF strip (binding inside seams)
Cut 2 – 3¾” x 25” strips (top bands) – unfold the 3¾’ x WOF strip to cut 25” strips
Cut 1 – 2½” strip from “left over” from top bands (inside seam binding)
Cut 2 – 1½” x 2½” (if using 1” strap) OR 2 – 1 ½” x 4” (if using 1 ½” strap) from “left over” top bands)
3. Lining Fabric: Cut 2 – 7¾” x 25” strips (pocket lining) – unfold 7¾” x WOF strip to cut 25” strip
Cut 2 – 7¾” x 18” strips (bottom insert sleeve) – can use “left over” pocket lining if
close to 18”)
4. Shapeflex (SF) 101: Cut 2 – 7 ¼” x 24 ¼”
5. Vinyl Mesh/Screen: Cut 1 – 25” W x 36” H

| Requirements: | Sewing machine with manual, extension table (recommended), and knee lift (helpful, but not required). Basic sewing supplies. Pattern from Nancy Ota - Tote It Screenplay 6. Focus fabric: ½ yd (outside pocket). Lining fabric: 2/3 yd (pocket lining and bottom insert). Accent fabric: 2/3 yd (pocket trim, top band, inside seam binding, optional key fob). Vinyl Mesh: Pam Damour colored mesh (36” x 58” pkg makes 2 totes) or 27” x 36” black mesh screen. Shapeflex (SF)101: ¾ yd (stabilizer for pocket). Webbing/Strapping; 3¼ yds of 1” – 1½” decorative strapping or cotton belt webbing. Thread to match vinyl mesh and complement fabrics. Focus and accent fabric will have visible topstitching – nice place to use fancy threads (variegated, sparkle, etc.). Corrugated plastic: approx.: 8”x15” (bottom insert – will be provided for class). Oval swivel hook: ¾” (optional for key fob). Needle: Microtex 90/14. Blue Painter’s tape or masking tape: approx. 1” (very helpful). Frixion pen (color that will be visible on your fabric). Large head sewing pins: 1¾” – 2” long (heart/flower head). Wonder Clips. 6” x 24” acrylic ruler. 45 mm rotary cutter. Cutting mat. Pressing cloth or piece of muslin (for applying SF 101). 10” Clover hot ruler (helpful, but not required). Any additional tools & notions you like to use when sewing. Pre-class Preparation 1.
