Beyond The Stitches Newsletter - October 2025

Welcome to our Monthly newsletter where we share what has been going on during the past month and share what is coming up.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh my goodness.......October is here.  This is my favorite time of the year because I can find all types of PUMPKIN items.  I really like anything Pumpkin.........desserts, breads, muffins, etc.   and the fun Pumpkin Projects we have been having in our Learning Center.  We have had the Pumpkin Trio and the Pumpkin Hollow classes which have been a lot of fun.  It is always interesting to see the fabrics and creative spirit of our customers who have shown us that Pumpkins can be Orange, Blue and even Pastel colors.  It is great working with creative minds.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you to those that donated to the local socks and shoe drive.  We understand there were over 1,800 items collected including the 25 pair of shoes and 322 pair of socks donated by Beyond The Stitches customers/friends.  We really appreciate your love and support of others.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speaking of classes in our Learning Center, we have really enjoyed having new customers join us in some recent classes.  Be sure to check our out Class List and Class Calendar on our website, www.beyondthestitches.com, where you may find a class that you will enjoy.

You never know what kind of great tips you are missing at Beyond The Stitches..........like what is inside Paula's pizza box.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We continue to work toward bringing you more fun classes.  Here is Linda Z and Dondi working on the class schedule and Mom (aka: Jan) and Dondi working on the new machine set up and classes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mom (aka: Jan) received a beautiful orchid from Sandy C.  as well as a special note.  Thank you Sandy for honoring Mom and sharing your love.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sew & Tell which is held the First Saturday of each month has been great to share your projects as well as simply become inspired by other's projects.  Great ideas are shared and you can even make a new friend or a few.

During Sew & Tell we heard some great tips and ideas that could inspire you too so be sure to mark your calendar for the next date.

I didn't know that.....

Here are some great tips that you may or may not know.

  • when you have an issue with thread nesting (messing thread/bunching of threads) on the bottom of your project, it is often a top threading problem.  Simply cut your thread at the top, pull the thread DOWN through the machine (never back up through the machine) then rethread your machine.
  • when you have an issue with thread nesting on the top of your project, it is often a bobbin threading issue.  Be sure you have the bobbin in the machine correctly.  Does your machine require a P or Q thread path coming off the bobbin?  the P thread path meaning the thread is to come off the left side of the bobbin wherewas the Q is the thread coming off the right side of the bobbin.
  • It is exteremly important that you use the correct bobbin in your machine.  Be sure to check your owners manual to determine the style/size of bobbin you should be using.
  • It is important to use your machine in forward and reverse stitching to ensure that your feed module continues to work well.

We really enjoy when you stop by and share with us the projects that you have completed with fabrics purchased from our shop and/or the projects you completed with the machine(s) you purchased from our Team.  Thank you for allowing our Team to celebrate with you.

Service

You have an investment in your machine.  Whether you view your investment as the actual purchase of the machine, the time spent learning how to use the machine or the maintenance of your machine, it is an investment that brings you joy, peace and the ability to create.  Be sure to protect your investment by scheduling a cleaning/maintenace appointment today.  It is recommended that you schedule a SPA DAY for your machine at least once a year (could be more often depending on the types of fabrics/fibers you work with and how frequently you use your machine).  Even if you do not use your machine often, it is recommended that you use the various functions of your machine such as moving to the various stitches, changing from sewing to embroidery (depending on the functions of your machine).

Be sure to give our Team a call (352) 794-3289 to schedule your SPA DAY.  Here are just a few that our technician had on the bench this past month.

Our Service Technician, Gary, had the opportunity to service Allison's 1904 Singer sewing machine; it is a beautiful machine.
